R.V. Bowman is a clean fantasy author who started telling stories to survive recess. Growing up in Michigan, the winters were cold, and kids got sent to the playground even if it was below freezing. Being a pint-sized Scheherazade proved a good way to stay warm. Even though she’s no longer in danger of frostbite, Bowman still writes clean fantasy full of fantastical adventures and magical creatures that will make you laugh (and sometimes tug on your heartstrings). Nowadays, she spins her tales on the couch with a fuzzy blanket, a warm cup of tea, and her dog Sherlock. Most of the time, her husband doesn’t mind that she won’t share the blanket.

When she’s not writing, R.V. Bowman teaches high school English—which means she knows exactly what kinds of stories keep readers turning pages (and which ones parents, teachers, and librarians can trust).

This November, she’s thrilled to launch a brand-new YA series—the Gloamwood Chronicles—with Cloak of Shadows, a shadowy tale of thieves, dragons, and one very reluctant heroine.
