Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here!

A professional headshot of young adult and middle grade fantasy author R. V. Bowman.

I write both middle-grade and young adult books, and I have a trilogy published in each age group. My middle-grade series, The Pirate Princess Chronicles, is a fantasy adventure trilogy perfect for readers who love action, humor, and a touch of mild romance. For fans of young adult fiction, my retelling of Alice in Wonderland, The Looking Glass Chronicles, offers a fresh twist on the classic tale. My YA books don’t include strong language, graphic violence, or anything beyond kissing. I want my stories to be fun and engaging for readers of all ages!

If you’re new to my work, I’d love for you to take a look around and learn more about my books. Whether you’re diving into The Pirate Princess Chronicles or exploring Wonderland in The Looking Glass Chronicles, I hope you’ll find something to enjoy.

I’m passionate about books and reading—and not just as an author. As a former middle-grade teacher, I know how important reading is for kids. Reading not only helps students excel academically but also builds empathy and kindness. That’s why I work to create stories that inspire a love of reading, whether it’s through swashbuckling adventures or reimagined fairy tales.

For parents, teachers, or librarians, I also offer a free printable Bookclub Kit to help engage young readers. When you sign up for my email list, you’ll get access to the kit, plus monthly updates featuring book recommendations, helpful resources, and news about my latest releases.

And because I’m always on the hunt for great stories, I’d love to hear about your favorite books—feel free to share them with me!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I’m excited to connect with you and share my stories with readers of all ages!

Hook’s Daughter

The Untold Tale of a Pirate Princess

Her biggest hero may be Neverland’s greatest villain.

Stuck at an exclusive boarding school year-round, Andromeda “Rommy” Cavendish counts down the days to her seafaring father’s twice-yearly visits.

But when her 12th birthday comes and goes without a word, she worries that something awful has happened to him. Not content to wait for answers, she disguises herself as a boy and sneaks out of school into the mean streets of Edwardian London.

But when she reaches her destination, she finds more questions than answers.

In order to discover the truth, she’ll have to go to the magical island of Neverland. But is she ready to face what she finds there?

If you enjoy fairytale twists, swashbuckling adventures, and spunky heroines, you’ll love Hook’s Daughter: The Untold Tale of a Pirate Princess, first in the middle-grade fantasy trilogy The Pirate Princess Chronicles.
