Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here!
Clean fantasy adventures for middle-grade and young adult readers—full of action, humor, and heart.

A professional headshot of young adult and middle grade fantasy author R. V. Bowman.

I’m R. V. Bowman, a high school English teacher and fantasy author. I write action-packed, humor-filled stories with plenty of heart—and without strong language, graphic violence, or anything beyond kissing. My goal is simple: fun, engaging books that parents, teachers, and librarians can trust, and that readers of all ages will love.

My middle-grade series, The Pirate Princess Chronicles, is a swashbuckling adventure trilogy perfect for readers who love bravery, humor, and a touch of mild age-appropriate romance. For young adult readers, The Looking Glass Chronicles, offers a fresh, twisting retelling of Alice in Wonderland. And this November, I’m thrilled to launch a brand-new series—the Gloamwood Chronicles—with Cloak of Shadows.

Cloak of Shadows

Book One of the Gloamwood Chronicles

Escaping the Huntsman’s noose lands her in the Wolf’s lair…

Slipping through society as a master thief, Vivi has perfected the craft of going unnoticed. With the aid of her family’s enchanted cloak, her stealing keeps a roof over their heads and gold in their pockets. Kindness? That’s one luxury she can’t afford.

But when Vivi breaks her own rules to save a boy from certain death, her moment of compassion lands her squarely in the crosshairs of the Huntsman—the city’s ruthless enforcer of the law.

To escape, she strikes a desperate deal with the Wolf, the city’s most feared gang leader. His price? Steal a magical amulet. The problem? It’s guarded by a dragon.

The only person who can help her is the boy she saved—the one who caused all her problems in the first place. Trusting anyone has never been part of the plan. But this heist means gambling everything: her freedom, her life, and the one thing Vivi swore she’d never risk…her heart.

Step inside the world before anyone else. Wander the walled city of Roscarra, venture into the shadowed Gloamwood, and read the first three chapters of Cloak of Shadows—free.

Book cover that announces Cloak of Shadows will be out on November 12th on a textured olive green background
